The Cuyahoga County Recorder’s Office Veterans Data and Information Web Site is designed to provide you with veteran information, support and burial sites for veterans whose graves are situated in Cuyahoga County. Also included on this site are links to various Veteran’s Administration Web Sites and Services, as well as specialized links to specific services provided to veterans of Cuyahoga County.
The Ohio Revised Code, Section 317.25, designates the County Recorder’s Office as the depository for information relating to the locations of all veteran’s gravesites within the county. Every effort has been made to make this list as inclusive as possible.
We believe that this is the first time that any Recorders’ Office in the country has attempted to provide this type of database to the public via the internet. Our records contain over 100,000 Cuyahoga County gravesites but it is possible that there are many more that we are not aware of.
Our information is provided by the Ohio Department of Health, Vital Statistics Unit, and our database is therefore dependant upon the materials supplied to us by that office. If you believe that your loved one, or someone you know, was a member of the armed forces and is buried in a grave located in Cuyahoga County which is not found on our list, please provide us with whatever information you may have (a DD-214 and any other service related forms would be helpful) and we will investigate your inquiry and attempt to confirm the information provided. All confirmed burials will be updated on our data base with the information obtained through our inquiry.
